Senate Bull 2284 was introduced in the 2013 North Dakota Legislature to enact a new type of brewery license in North Dakota, which is being called a Brewer Taproom License. This new type of license will allow brewers to operate breweries with taprooms. This bill, if passed, will also allow your local brewery to deliver beer directly to local restaurants and liquor stores bypassing a wholesaler within a set limit of both quantity and range.
The ND Beer Distributors Association has come out in favor of these changes as it seems they under stand that giving small brewers the ability to self-distribute will result in larger breweries that will need their services. Their backing will definitely increase the chance that this bill passes.
This bill was amended in the Senate Industry, Business and Labor Committee so the license will allow the brewer to self distribute anywhere in the state of ND if they wish, not just with in a 150 mile range, plus they can sell their own beers off-sale in 12oz bottles to 15 gallon kegs.
