Building on the success of previous Beer Fests, Alerus Center announced today that they will present the “Happy Harry’s Beer & Bacon Festival” on Saturday, October 5, 2013. In bringing Sizzle to your Suds, Happy Harry’s Beer & Bacon Festival will be moving indoors to the spacious Alerus Center main arena floor.
The concept of the festival is to pair two American favorites into one spectacular event. The focus of the beer tasting will continue to be sampling a multitude of new and craft beers from the region’s largest distributors. Plans call for 40 – 60 different beers to be available for tasting.
Local restaurants will be able to compete in the bacon dish competition. Chefs can utilize their culinary creativity in bringing bacon to life in unique recipes that event-goers will have the opportunity to judge and crown the 2013 champion. Live music, a VIP experience, a Bacon Art (BArt) contest, bacon eating contest and other entertainment features are also planned. Ticket prices will be $15 for General Admission, $30 for the VIP Experience and will go on sale August 23rd. Participation details for all of the planned contests will be forthcoming throughout the summer.
“Alerus Center is excited to work with Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops to present this unique pairing of beer and bacon in Grand Forks,” said facility Assistant Director Bob LeBarron, CFE. “We’ve got a lot of tremendous, fun ideas on how to make this festival one of the most unique and exciting events in the Midwest.”
