Are you interested in growing your own hops or learning more about local hops in North Dakota?
Ostlie’s Sunnyside Acres first ever Hops Field Day will be held on the farm 9 miles south of Carrington August 15th, 2015 starting at 3 pm. Mike & Lindsay will do a tour of the farm and hopyard. Then, Kyla Splichal from the NDSU Williston Research Extension Center will be speaking about her hops research and about growing hops for hobbyist and home brewers.
Splichal received grant funding from the Specialty Crop Block Grant through the USDA for “Hop Selections for North Dakota.” She is conducting a variety trial of 12 different Hop varieties to see which ones are best adapted to our region.
At 5 pm, there will be a brat barbeque with free beer samples from Fargo Brewing Company. Stay and socialize with other beer lovers in the state. Admission is $20 per person if purchased by Monday, August 10 and $25 after August 10 and at the door. There will be a separate educational farm program during the tour and speakers for children ages 3-12. The children’s program is $15 and includes a meal. Tickets can be purchased by clicking HERE
